Modigliani String Quartet

The Modigliani Quartet, formed in 2003, attracted international attention in 2004 by winning the Frits Philips String Quartet competition in Eindhoven and in 2006 the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York. The quartet has collaborated with, among others, Michel Dalberto, Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Anne Gastinel, and Gary Hoffman. Private sponsors have provided the quartet outstanding Italian instruments: a 1780 violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini; a 1734 violin by Alessandro Gagliano; a 1590 viola by Mariani; and a 1706 cello by Matteo Goffriller (former “Warburg”).
